Europe's first Gogo Galileo HDX STC after successfully installation in an Embraer Phenom 300 expected

Atlas Air Service AG

Atlas Air Service AG is the first European maintenance organization to expect a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Gogo Galileo HDX satellite connectivity system. In cooperation with Gogo Business Aviation, FTI Engineering Network GmbH and Aviation Services Reinhard e.K., Atlas successfully installed the state-of-the-art LEO (Low Earth Orbit) internet satellite terminal on an Embraer Phenom 300 aircraft.

Representing one of Europe’s most popular business aviation airframes, owners appreciate the high-tech specifications of the aircraft, which are now strengthened by the ability to equip a next-generation connectivity system that brings high-speed wi-fi to the cabin. The system enables an ultra-fast and stable internet connection with consistent speeds in the 45-60 Mbps range via the Eutelsat OneWeb LEO satellite network.

The antenna installation was recently completed at the Atlas Air Service Center in Bremen; certification of the STC by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is expected in January 2025. Customers can now pre-order the installation for their business jets from Atlas Air Service. Radu Grigore, Maintenance Commercial Director at Atlas Air Service, had the opportunity to test the connection personally and was impressed: „The system offers exactly what was expected: high speed and low latency. All passengers can stream different 4K videos simultaneously in a Phenom 300. That's impressive! This Phenom 300 has the highest internet speed ever and we are proud to have set a new milestone for business aviation in Europe.”

The development of a further STC for the Cessna Citation CJ series is in full swing with the installation of the first antenna in a CJ1 planned for January 2025. Vice President of Sales – EMEA/APAC for Gogo and Satcom Direct, Dave Falberg, says: „As our connectivity system rolls out in Europe, we’re looking forward to working with Atlas on generating further STCs to enhance the customer experience for more business aviation owners, operators and passengers.“

From the second quarter of 2025, Atlas Air Service will be the first service centre in Europe to offer the complete installation of the Gogo Galileo system for the Cessna Citation CJ series, as well as for the Embraer Phenom 300. The Gogo Galileo system can be installed both at Atlas Air Service in Bremen and at the subsidiaries in Augsburg and Altenrhein/Switzerland.

With this technological innovation, Atlas Air Service is underpinning its leading position in European aviation and setting new standards for connectivity and comfort in business aviation.
